ASSET DECLARATION: WHAT DID BUHARI PROMISE?

"Rivers know this: There is no hurry, we shall get there some day."       --  Winnie the Pooh

Good morning Nigeria and Nigerians! Itsa new day, and the beginning of another new month.

Congratulations to every Nigerian on not just the success of the 2015 elections but also the smooth transition from one democratic government to another. Celebrations over, President Buhari is on the saddle now as the President not of Northern Nigeria, not of APC but of the entire Nigerian state.

I AM FOR EVERYBODY, AND I AM FOR NOBODY

Well, we at THE MANDATE MONITOR have taken special interest in this quotable quote that has gone viral in the social media. What does this quote connote for Nigeria and Nigerians? What are the implications of such words on marble? Well, we urge you to await the many interpretations and implications for a Nigeria now united by the emergence of change.

NASIR EL-RUFAI: 50% OF YOUR SALARY IS NOTHING

News coming out from Kaduna state indicates that the state Governor, Nasir El - Rufai says he and his Deputy will pick up just 50% of their monthly wages only. On the outside, this is good news and ordinarily ought to have been a cause for joy to the citizens of the state, but unfortunately, it is not. So why is it not? The answer is not far fetched, They do not depend on their monthly wages - they can do without it entirely.

The main sources of stealing for all the governors especially (1) the rogue SECURITY VOTE (2) Money slashed from a supposed STATE/LG JOINT ACCOUNT (3)Funds stolen from the Federal allocation from Abuja (4) Jumbo allowances (5) Stealing from Internally Generated Revenue (4)  BONDS, FOREIGN AND LOCAL LOAN.

We call on Nasir El-Rufai and all supposed change agents to cut allowances, security votes andloans, then we will know that he is serious.

ASSET DECLARATION: WHAT DID BUHARI PROMISE?

The social media has been agog with discussions on the supposed assets declaration of Mr. President and his Vice. In fact, NTA news monitored from our office in a news item reported the submission of their assets declaration form to the Code of Conduct Bureau. The report further explained that the duo has not only fulfilled constitutional requirements but also the promises they made to Nigerians during the long campaigns.

Chapter VI Section 140 of Nigerian constitution only stipulates that public officials should declare their assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau, So, what did Mr. President and his Vice promise? Why are Nigerians then not satisfied withthe submission of the form to the CCB?

We take a look once again at what they promised Nigerians during the elections. In a document titled "I pledge to Nigeria", the now Mr. President promised thus:

“I pledge to publicly declare my assets and liabilities, encourage all my appointees to publicity declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for appointment." and "All political appointees will only earn the salaries and allowances determined by the RMFAC.”

The President and his Vice have completely fulfilled constitutional requirements but it seems thaty they are yet to fulfill a social contract they entered into with the people to make  AN OPEN DECLARATION OF THEIR ASSETS and this accounts for the uneasy or disquiet uproar been generated. By restricting their assets declaration to submission of forms to the CCB, President Buahri and Vice-President Osibanjo have done nothing special. It is clear that the understanding of the average Nigerian is that the CHANGE mantra will be reflected in the assets declaration of of the duo.The expectations of the people is that the duo will make open and public disclosures in line with international good governance best practices especially since Buhari is riding on the wings of transparency and anti corruption.

It should be recalled that former President Yar'Adua  redeemed his pledge by publicly declaring his assets on June 28, 2007; according to him, he had ₦856,452,892 (US$5.8 million) in assets, ₦19 million ($0.1 million) of which belonged to his wife. He also had ₦88,793,269.77 ($0.5 million) in liabilities.

Widespread opinion is that Nigerians did not vote Buhari to fulfill constitutional requirements, Nigerians voted for the OLD GENERAL to run an open, transparent and accountable government, to restore the dignity of the Nigerian man.

THE MANDATE MONITOR

IT IS NOT GOD, IT IS CORRUPTION

IT IS NOT GOD, IT IS CORRUPTION

Please tell DINO MELAYE that it is not God but corruption.

Tell am say we at THE MANDATE MONITOR dey vex big time.

The question is or should be, beyond politics, what does Dino do to own this wonder on wheels?
We must begin to ask questions of authorities. We as Nigerians must learn how to question authorities because the institutions are pre-figured to protect authorities and thus can not help us.

In a country where the people are extremely poor like ours and one man is flaunting this on Facebook?
We all know the size of funds that both APC and PDP ploughed into the elections, this coming so soon thereafter? The man is even attributing the thievery to God Almighty.

FUELING FUEL FRAUDS

Who are these people? The fuel marketers What sort of human beings are they who derive joy in the suffering of their fellow citizens and the economic sabotage of their nation.

Why do the extant Nigerian government condone this level of fraud against the state and the people? Especially as it relates to FUEL, an extremely essential commodity globally.

Its thumbs down to all those involved in this wickedness against the Nigerian people, to all those whose wealth is dependent on the daily trauma of the citizenry, to all those who pretend to be successful but whose success is the pain, affliction and wretchedness of Nigerians.

Just know it that you are all fraudsters fuelling fuel frauds, and the only reason you guys walk free is the systemic corruption in Nigeria.

Down with you all fuel marketers fuelling fuel frauds!

MAJOR (INDEPENDENT) OIL THIEVES

MAJOR (INDEPENDENT) OIL THIEVES

The fuel fraud culprits are people we celebrate and patronise daily. People like Femi Otedola, Mike Adenuga, Wale Tinubu, Oba Otudeko, Capt. Iheanacho etc. These are the fuel fraud theives that make us as a people and as a nation suffer perpetual fuel scarcity.

They are very corrupt. These dishonest Nigerians work in concert with the legislators and executives of any government in power to pilfer our national treasury and commonwealth and throw long suffering masses into a circle of repeated fuel scarcity while claiming bogus illicit payment for nothing. They bribe our leaders blind and are the reasons our local refineries are not working.

They call themselves MAJOR and in some places, INDEPENDENT marketers but we call them MAJOR or INDEPENDENT OIL THIEVES.

We ought not to celebrate them by any means because the money they flaunt about indeed is money stolen from our common till.

In this new dispensation, we must watch out for opportunities to name and shame them... they are not intelligent by any means, they are just opportuned to be close to our national treasury and they steal from it with reckless abandon.

It is thumbs down for the Executive and the National Assembly who collude with these theives.

ROGUE LEADERS - Part 2

ROGUE LEADERS - Part 2

If the Igbos get it right in terms of leadership, the world will stand still - Obuesi Phillips
We started discussing those who hijack instrument of state or power to become leaders, whose leadership does not add any productive value to the office they occupy. In this second part of the discuss, we shall be
talking about Igbo rogue leaders.

You can deny them every other thing but their creativity and Industry is world renowned. The Igbos of South Eastern Nigeria are without doubt distinctly created with certain rare genes for industry. A capacity to create and recreate, generate and regenerate, engineer and reengineer anything, anyhow and anywhere.
The industry of the Igboman will bud anywhere.

Unfortunately for the Igbos, all they can boast of in terms of leadership are all ROGUE LEADERS. One major characteristic of these Igbo rogue leaders is that they are usually self appointing.

Especially in politics or in the so called "Eze ndi Igbo in diaspora", they are all self appointing and it is usually for selfish purposes.

Who is this self appointing rogue scoundrel that calls himself Eze Nd'Igbo in Australia?

ETHNIC OBSESSION - Part 2

You are wrong Mr. President Elect, our problem is our obsession with our ethnic groupings. I call it ethnic supremacy thinking
- Obuesi Phillips

The President elect had last week while recieving the Akwa Ibom caucus in APC declared that corruption is Nigeria's main challenge and not religion and tribalism. It will be recalled that Gen. Buhari rode to electoral victory in the last elections on the platform of INTEGRITY and anti-corruption.
We however wish to disagree with Mr. President Elect on this subject matter. It is clear Gen. Buhari is both passionate and committed to the anti-corruption crusade but available facts show that ethnic bigotry actually fuel corruption.
We are ethnic and religious bigots here in Nigeria Mr. President Elect.
It is our bigotry that fuels corruption within us which is a negative manifestation of our way of life.
It is our ethnic bigotry that influences the sharing of our national resources, placement in the civil service, directs who is and who is not promoted or given contrac. Our ethnic bigotry places premium on mediocrity, extols federal character over merit, it influences us to act against reason and all sense of responsibility.
Our ethnic supremacy battles are fought at the place of politics. It is believed that the Yorubas have had their time during Obasanjo's regime. It is believed that the Ijaws have had their time as Jonathan's regime winds up, it is widely believed that the Hausa will take over and have their turn at the nation's politocal leadership. The Igbo ethnic group will very soon commence a widespread agitation for a shot at the nation's political leadership.
Mr. President Elect, Nigerians are extremely obsessed with their ethnic and religious groups. The Influence of the Hausa ethnic group will underscore this Buhari's government.
As Gen. Buhari settles down as Nigeria's President, we call on you Mr. President Elect to support our campaign for ETHNIC SACRIFICE.
We set this agenda for the in-coming government is to denounce ethnic champions... those who preach ethnic supremacy. Specifically we single out Alh. Ango Abdulahi, Chief Edwin Clark, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, Ralph Uwazuruike and their likes across Nigeria.

ETHNIC OBSESSION - Part 1

(A call for ethnic sacrifice)
Reading an article by my Ghanian father, Dr. Samuel Korantang Pipim titled - Self Obsession, it all began to make sense to me, I mean the challenges of ethnicity and or tribalism presently confronting the Nigerian state.
Why are we so obsessed with our ethnic groupings? It is worse than corruption, in fact, that is the reason we are extremely corrupt as a people. For a public servant to be obsessed with his ethnic group.
Great Britain just held their elections, and the issues weren't that of the tribal or ethnic groupings of the candidates.
So who has so bewitched us? Why are Nigerians this way as a people? You hear Nigerians say, "the man there is from my tribe..." or that "the man there is an Igboman".
When an official is elected or appointed into public office, that office immediately becomes an extension of his ethnic group, why are we that way?
Why must a public official's success or failings in office be attributed to his ethnic group? I have read certain online reports suggesting that the Igbos and in some others, the Yorubas and or the Hausa are the problems of Nigeria. Well, my only challenge is the zeal of such arguments which in all the reports suggests extreme ethnic or tribal obsession of the writers.
It was evident under the present Jonathan's regime, strategic design to empower the Ijaws specifically. The in-coming Buhari's regime will have to contend with the same issue, aids and appointeed that are obsessed with their Northern ancestry.
Like Dr. Pipim wrote, I think that what we need as a people is ethnic tolerance... ETHNIC SACRIFICE!
Watch out for part 2 titled ETHMIC SACRIFICE.
